Polish scientific experiments on the ISS

As part of the IGNIS mission on the International Space Station, a unique set of 13 experiments developed by Polish scientific institutions and technology companies will be conducted. These projects were selected and prepared in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), the Ministry of Development and Technology, and POLSA, and their implementation marks a new chapter in the history of Polish presence in space.

The experiments include, among others:

  • Space psychology – research on the mental well-being of astronauts and the impact of isolation and lack of contact with nature on their emotions, effectiveness, and behaviour.

  • Health and human biology – analyses of the gut microbiome, functioning of the immune system, the impact of cosmic conditions on soft tissues, and the long-term stability of medications.

  • New technologies – tests of artificial intelligence in microgravity, brain-computer interfaces, acoustic sensors, advanced nanomaterials, and radiation monitoring systems.

  • Green solutions – experiments with microalgae and modified yeast, which may play a key role in the production of oxygen, food, and medicine during future missions to Księżyc and Mars.

All experiments will be conducted by the Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski aboard the ISS. This is an exceptional opportunity for Polish science and technology to be tested in the most demanding environment – in outer space.
